On the processing floor, preheat is where you either make yield or bleed it. If the heat isn’t even, you get stress lines in tempered glass and weak bonds in lamination. When the preheater can’t keep up, scrap stacks up and cycle times drift out. We built our preheater to stop that waste at the source.
What’s under the hood
It runs on short-wave infrared, with a quartz emitter array tuned to glass emissivity. Power is matched to line speed—typically 12–48 kW per module—on a 400 V three-phase supply, and the unit is IP54 rated. Recovery is quick: under 2 seconds to get back to setpoint after a sheet passes. Across the width, we hold ±3 °C uniformity, so every square gets the same thermal dose. The frame is compact, designed to drop straight into existing conveyor gaps, and the control interface lines up with common PLCs so integration is plug-and-play.
In tempering, uniform preheat keeps thermal shock in check and keeps bow and warp within spec, which lifts first-pass yield. In EVA/SGP/PVB lamination, it tightens the heating zone and stabilizes the tack point, so you cut down on voids and rework. Energy use drops because the emitter array heats the glass directly, not the air around it. Lines that used to chase temperature drift run steadier, with fewer stoppages and fewer cracked sheets.
Installation is straightforward, but alignment is tight. The preheater has to sit parallel to the roller line; even a small misalignment can leave edge shadowing. Keep the emitter surface clean—dust and condensates will hurt performance—and plan maintenance around lamp end-of-life, around 5,000 hours for stable output. After a cold start, expect a brief ramp-up, so budget a warm-up buffer before grade changes. Match the voltage and connector specs to your line, and the preheater behaves predictably, shift after shift.
